A family counselor

They have to be able to understand the different economical, social and personal issues that people of all age group face. A big part of their job involves offering help and guidance to couples who are attempting to work through their marital problems and helping children cope with difficult situations.
Families will face several struggles, ranging from divorce to coping with children that have behaviour issues. They will try to uncover the root of people’s problems by speaking to family members and asking their feelings about their situation. They could provide one on one counselling with families or arrange group therapy sessions. The counselor will use their knowledge of family structures, psychology, and mental health to aid families in order to help them deal with their problems. They will attempt to improve communication between members of a family and suggest ways which individuals are able to approach difficult situations.
